Good wheels, but tyre choices are critical

" This is a difficult one to rate. I bought these wheels for everyday commuting and occasional CX races. I knew these weren't the lightest wheel in the price-range, but the tubeless option meant I could potentially use them as a race-specific wheel in the future and the fact they were thru-axle compatible meant they could be used if/when I upgrade the bike.
So far have covered around 1000km and the wheels are still true and I have absolutely no complaints about how they run.
My only grumble, and it a critical one, is that tyres are extremely tight to get on and off. I had read the reviews on this before buying, but still underestimated it. I run Conti Gator Hardshells for commuting and have recently found roadside puncture repairs to be almost impossible. Even though the Gators are notoriously tight on most rims, I've never had this level of difficulty after using the tyres for years.
Also, I've found the inside of the rim lip is very square (almost sharp) - not an issue if used tubeless, but coupled with the very tight tyres it makes pinch-flats a nightmare. I wont hesitate to use these for race-specific wheels, but have decided to buy some cheap commuter wheels for everyday use.
These are very solid, reasonably lightweight and potentially versatile wheels (all great factors), but you might need to weight up a few factors if considering using them for every-day commuting. "
Pros: Durable, Rugged, Versatile
Cons: very difficult to mount tyres

" I've had a few pairs of these and they really can't be beat. Over the years I've had Speedo, TYR and other brands, but at this price I dont think there is much out there that can beat these. They're comfortable to wear, they cover all the things they're supposed to cover and they feel good through the water. I've paid a lot more for other swimmers that are inferior to these and these seem to last forever (I only bought the second pair to have a spare). Absolutely nothing to complain about. "

" I've been using these gloves for the last few months on my commute to work. I'm extremely happy with the gloves - nice and warm on the cold mornings and the gel pads on the palm take a bit of the shock out of the road. Being waterproof (and made of a neoprene material) they dont tend to breathe much, but being a specific winter glove, I dont see this as a major problem. Just have to throw them in the wash occasionally as they do get a bit smelly over time. For what it's worth, these do seem to be 100% waterproof and I've been caught in a few downpours recently.
I've covered around 500km wearing these so far and they look as good as new, so durability seems to be great. I'd recommend these to anyone who covers a lot of km's and can justify spending a few extra dollars on some quality gloves. "

" I've been very happy with this jacket. For this price range it's hard (if not impossible) to beat. I had expected a jacket in this pricerange to have a more 'plasticy' feel to it, but the fabric is actually quite soft and comfortable to wear. Yes there are more breathable jackets out there, but you will pay three times the price of this jacket to buy one. Having said that, if you dont mind rolling up the sleeves mid-ride on the odd occasion, the breathability of this jacket does the job for commuting just fine. Worth mentioning that this is a cycling-specific jacket, meaning the cut at the front is quite short. If you're looking for a multi-purpose jacket, this one is probably not for you. "

" We can't fault this bag. It's lightweight, comfortable and pretty versatile. Has enough storage for some spare clothes / nappies / drink bottle and with the added options of the sun and rain covers you can pretty much go anywhere, anytime. Our son (now approx. 1yr old) is so comfy in the bag he's been known to fall asleep. Just remember to duck when walking under low branches... "

" These tyre's obviously are not cheap, but if you can justify the extra money they're well worth it. These seem to fit the needs for CX racing in southern Australia perfectly. They roll much faster than previous Vittoria tyres on grass and hard packed dirt and corner well through most conditions. If you need to use them to ride to the races along sealed roads, they will do the job nicely - I only seem to lose around 2-3km/h on the roads using these when compared to road slicks. Over all, I've been extremely happy with these and I'm not likely to be buying another brand of racing tyre any time soon. "

" I've used one of these pumps for a number of years and while it isn't perfect, you won't realise just how good it actually is until you borrow someone else's pump after getting used to this one.
This is by far the fastest inflating pump I've ever used and will take a lot less effort to get your tyres up to pressure, however there are some 'intricacies' which come with this pump.
Making a good connection between the pump and presta valves is a bit of a learned art with this pump. It might take a bit of getting used to, as will the art of disconnecting the pump without losing pressure.
The rubber hand grip pads can and do come off the handles, so be careful while travelling, as if you lose one (like I did) the handles without the pads can hurt the hands a bit.
This is an expensive pump, but once you get used to it's little tricks you'll probably never buy another pump again - just look after those handle pads! "
Pros: Durable, High Quality, efficient, fast

Taste-test first!

" Firstly, it has to be said that these gels DO work. The energy hit is fast-acting and lasts well (although the duration will always differ for different individuals).
However, to state the obvious, it's always a good idea to taste-test the variety before purchasing a box of them... Apple flavour isn't the best tasting energy gel in the world!
If taste is not an issue for you, these are extremely high-quality energy gels (there's a reason [apart from sponsorship] you'll see many IM trathletes use this brand), however if you have a sensitive tummy (like me) and a pleasing taste is important to you, either test them first or perhaps go for a different brand. "

" If you want a lightweight, inexpensive bottle holder, then look no further.
There's no doubt carbon holders have their place in the world (and I'll admit, my racing bike holds two of them!), but depending on what you're looking for and what its purpose is, you can pay huge amounts for carbon or you can pay a fraction of the price for something that weighs the same and lasts just as long (if not longer). " A must for those indoor trainers.
For the sake of saving your carpets from sweat stains, these mats are perfect. A great added feature is the thicker, padded section to take the weight of the trainer so there are no pressure marks left on the carpets. "

is this jacket lightweight; if not can you recommend a decent priced, waterproof jacket?

It really depends on your definition of 'lightweight'... it's not as light as a goretex active shell or a similar high-priced jacket, but it's also a fraction of the price. Breathability is also not as high as the more expensive jackets either. Packability of the jacket isnt fantastic - I have an XL and it would be too bulky to store in a jersey pocket while riding. All things said though, the fabric is quite soft for a jacket in this pricerange (I expected it to be far heavier) and I find it comfortable to wear while commuting. If you're looking for lightweight - look for the goretex (or equivalent), but be prepared to be spending (a lot) more $$.

does the tacx flow take 29er wheels?

The Flow will take 700cc roadie wheels, btu the extra bulk of the tyres might be the only issue. there is adjustment in the roller, but I think it might come down to how knobbly the tyres are.
