" While I can imagine it could be possible to get higher quality end caps that are thicker or shinier or something, but these do the job and look fine. For the price it is worth having a packet at home so you don't have to ration the ones that come with your cables. "

" This is the first rim tape I have bought, so I can't compare it to other brands other than those that have come on bikes I have purchased. However, I can say that this rim tape is sturdy yet simple and quick to put on. It is basically a thick woven material with an adhesive backing and a spoke or rough edge would have a lot of trouble poking through.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy this rim tape again.

" While I have been fortunate enough not to have to use these yet, it is worth mentioning that the little plastic box containing the patches is around 3cm x 3cm and perhaps 5mm thick. Replacing my previous patching kit with this has freed up a decent amount of space in my saddle bag. "

" This little light clips on the back of my saddle bag and throws out a remarkable amount of light for a couple of AAA batteries! Fresh batteries work better, so it's not a bad idea to use rechargeables, but regardless the batteries last a long time before it becomes dim in any noticeable way.
I like the way it has orange lights at the side with multiple red lights at the back.
With this on the back in one of its two flashing modes, and another rear light set on constant, (to give drivers something to judge distance by), I feel quite confident that I will be seen from behind on dark winter nights.
(Of course, choose sensible clothing too e.g. A white jersey rather than a black one).
I have had no troubles with this in wet weather including some pretty heavy downpours and other conditions that threw up a fair bit of sand. "

" This helmet fits nicely on my head, and seems built to last. In fact, one of the things that impressed me about Met helmets was that the company has done tests that show their helmets still work fine after 8 years. When every other company seems to be encouraging you to replace your helmet after 3 years, you have to have respect for a company that either builds their helmets to last a little longer even if that could mean less sales.
The only real complaint I have about this helmet is that it seems to catch crosswinds on windy days which can be a little scary in traffic - but I imagine most helmets would do that.
As I haven't had an unplanned dismount where my head contacted the tarmac I can't comment on how well the helmet protects your noggin, but it feels sturdy enough that I trust it more than my old one - but who knows without testing... "
Pros: Durable, Comfortable, High Quality, Good Fit
Cons: catches crosswinds

" Since getting this book I've had more confidence servicing my own bike. (I recently changed the cables and chain).
The book wasn't as detailed as some people suggested, but then perhaps that's because bikes are less complicated than I had come to think. The instructions are definitely enough to set you well on your way to fixing and servicing your bike with relative confidence even if you have little experience with mechanical things.
The cost of the book will be offset by the first service you do yourself, which means you can afford better quality components to do that service.
The writing style is also quite readable: not patronising, but not overly technical either, with the odd bit of subtle humour thrown in to keep it fun. "
Pros: Great Value, approachable

" A really high quality base layer that feels smooth and comfortable while keeping you warm in winter, and cool in spring. (I have yet to try Summer, but am thinking there may be something cooler).
The only negative would be that it has stretched a bit so better to order a closer fitting size.
I have only tried one other base layer, which was a lot cheaper, but the extra cost for this was worth it - the other was good, but this is great (other than the stretching). "

" I think the mark of a good tube is that you don't really think about it too much - that is: it rarely flats, the ride is comfortable, and it's easy to put on. Using these tubes and Continental GP 4000S tyres, the ride is great, I have next to no flats, and the tubes were simple to put in with no lumpy bits.
I'm thinking I may try latex tubes next for an even smoother ride, but assuming that that is a short lived experiment, I will be returning to these for my butyl tubes. Whether it is placebo or the mark of quality, these tubes do feel smooth and reliable. "

" I was sceptical of cycling socks, but bought a pair of these for fun. I now have two pairs but am definitely keen to add more to the collection. I commute to work by bike (a few days a week) and their fast drying is appreciated when it is time to go home at the end of the day.
As someone with a size 12 foot, the XL is a fairly good fit. "

" Having only used this once it was a fairly straightforward experience, and I certainly didn't bend any pins or anything. It felt solid and reliable, but I suppose time will tell.
It is bigger and more comfortable than other chain breakers I have held - the handle is comfortable and can screw out of the body of the tool, presumably so it could fit better in your saddle-bag... although if you want one for your saddle bag, I'd look for a smaller one as this would take up a reasonable bit of space. Is the velox rim tape made of cloth?

Yes. Sturdy cloth that would be hard to penetrate with a spoke or sharp edge.

Is this weatherproof?

I was just wondering how if anyone had any idea's of how it handled the wet?
I've had no troubles including some heavy downpours and I regularly have to wipe off dust and sand after riding in milder rain. My experience has been that it has been really reliable - although I do have a second flasher set on constant too both to be seen better, and perhaps as a backup should it die an unexpected death.

Vision 1 LED Front Light 2012
Vision 1 LED Front Light 2012
This fantastic little light may just be the best addition to your night riding you can make as it a single high powered LED that pushes out 240 lumens on max power!

could you recommend batteries/charger?

If I buy this light, can you recommend a set of batteries and charger that will enable the light to perform at its best please?
I had the same question and did a lot of reading up on rechargable batteries. In the end I went for Enerloops and the charger that came with them. They're not the cheapest rechargeable batteries, but they have a good reputation and a very low self-discharge time, so if you don't use the light for a few weeks they should still have plenty of charge left in them.

It seemed that the choice came down to the Enerloops or batteries made by MAHA, and the Enerloops were easier to get my hands on.

Does this light flash or is it static, what is the burn time on flash if so?

Assuming they haven't changed it, you have 4 brightness levels plus a flashing mode which has the same brightness as the lowest level. Apparently that lasts for a long time - you could happily have it on during the day if you wanted extra visibility and not feel like you were being overly wasteful.

Size

This looks quite big. Does anybody know its diameter at the back and its lenght. I found nothing on the Hope website.

Thanks
It is pretty sturdy, but not huge.

It's around a 4.5cm diameter and 8.6cm in length, so fairly stout on road bike bars, but maybe not so much on a MTB.

Is this suitable to use on a Carbon Fibre frame?

Naturally, you can't see through it so you won't see the weavy goodness of your frame, but yes, it sticks fine and does what it is meant to do.

I added it to carbon fibre forks and carbon fibre seat stays and have had no problems at all.

Just a sheet - so you can cut it into your own designs, or shapes to fit the parts of your bike.
