" Lots of space inside. I can fit in more than I need and I carry a fair amount of bits around to get me out of trouble.
I don't really like the fitting - it's a a one piece band with velcro ends that goes all the way around under the bag and in theory should be "locked" in place with another piece of velcro on the bottom. That's OK but it's a bit cumbersome to do up again if you take the bag off.
It should not have to come off very often but even with mudguards it gets a bit soggy and I worry for some of the tools inside so it comes off for hosing down.
Second thing is that it uses up a fair amount of seat tube and I would rather have a smaller bag so the rear light can be a bit more open. I think this is more perception than reality because to hide the light you would have to be pretty close anyway. But it does mean it's a bit of a struggle to take the rear light off in winter to keep the batteries out of the freezing cold in the garage. I tend to leave the rear light on the bike now and stuff the batteries, whereas before it used to come off every time.
Sad person that I am. That said, I ordered two and chose the bigger one. "

" Plenty of holes for air, my last helmet was under ventilated. This is fine, although there hasn't been a cold day for my bald head to complain about.
Two things - the insect net is a bit weird and I haven't worked out how it is supposed to fit in. Secondly, I start out and the chin strap is nice and tight and after 8 or 10 miles it feels as though it's flapping around down by my chest - \I guess the helmet slips down more over my head.
Still, pretty pleased with it. Don't really notice that I have it on.
Good buy as far as I am concerned. Somehow, I wish I had bought the yellow one to get me up the hills faster. "

" My other half was complaining about one of my pairs of bib-shorts. I am a bit of a sweater, and yes they were getting on a bit, but a couple of washes with this and these have none of the old odour about them.
Very good for cycling gear and seems to do what is says on the bottle.
(It also means that my cycling stuff doesn't get washed with the rest of the weekly wash, so I can just do my bits and get them back in service pronto.)
I have washed at 30 degrees C and it's fine.
It's a wee bit expensive but it does the job.
I would recommend and will buy again. "

" Front derailleur cable failed on me after 3 years so I bought a £1.69 replacement at LBS. The bottom line was it fitted easily but when I needed to tweak the fitting a bit the cable splayed.
So I purchased this and it's a different story - it's very good & will take a couple of tweaks without splaying.
Worth the extra money? Yes. I know it will last me another 3 years.
That counts for a lot.
It's a wee bit thicker than LBS cable, so it did take a bit of persuasion to get through the ends on the outer (ream with an old drill) but otherwise very pleased. "
Pros: Durable, High Quality
Cons: Expensive, needed a bit of help to fit

" I looked at all the other options and went for the big brand - I am very pleased with the first couple of runs out - it does everything I need.
Just a couple of niggles - the GPS reception seems less good under tree cover - I am a roadie and it's not as though you lose your tracking completely - it just catches up when it picks up the signal. So you might lose your top speed somewhere it you stonk down a hill with thick tree cover.
The display is a bit busy and maybe the speed should dominate in a large font and the other metrics cycle round in a smaller font. (Just like my £10 one that I had for 10 years).
Even in the open, very occasionally the speed doesn't seem quite right - you know it's not right and you put the hammer down a bit and it shows you cycling even slower!
It's a wee bit bulky, but if it were not so I would probably be commenting that the display was a bit small, which it isn't.
But these niggles aside, and they are really are only niggles, it seems a welll built bit of kit and the Garmin website exceeds expectations.
For just over 100 quid I think it's great value and I don't know I can ever go back to veloroutes and gmap-pedometer. And I always hated the MapMyRide's adverts.
Now my favourite toy. In fact messing around on the website is *almost* more fun than the actual cycling. "

" Replacing Mavic rims (good) & Specialized hubs (dreadful). Well balanced and predictable - I guess they aren't as light as others but I suspect they are robust enough for the "Namibian cattle tracks" that we have for roads in Surrey.
On the road they inspire confidence and the freehub is nice and quiet.
Good buy. Very pleased. And they look pretty smart as well. "

" Lost my last pair somewhere on the road. Considered that as this is probably something that might fall out of my pockets yet again, I really didn't want to spend too much. These are perfect. Very comfortable with good grip around my weedy upper arms - some fall down within a few miles but these have just enough tension.
Perfect for spring and autumn. I will use these in winter to bolster some of my lightweight tops.
Well done Wiggle - another good design well executed.
I am convinced the red makes me go faster. "

" These were replacing a pair of Endura overshoes that quite honestly were brilliant, but (seemingly a common problem) the zip eventually failed.
I chose two pairs that on the face of it looked good and chose to keep these. On the 1st run out at 2 degreees C my feet were kept very warm and, as dry as anything with a great big hole in the sole can be expected to. These don't feel as heavy duty as the Enduras - the neoprene is not as thick, but these do the same job very well. They are a snug fit on my shoes (Large - on a size 42 shoe with ski bindings, so most overshoes are a tight fit). A good buy. "

 KMC K710 Kool BMX Chain
KMC K710 Kool BMX Chain
The KMC K710 chain is designed for heavy-duty BMX freestyle and track bikes. The OS outer and tall inner plates provide incredible tensile strength and eliminates stretching and chain drop.

Is it sensible to fit this to a road bike?

My LBS has fitted a KMC Kool chain to my 10-spd Specialized Secteur Elite (Shimano 105 all round 12-27 Shimano 5700 cassette & 3 chainrings) .

I suspect they have done this because I insisted on a cleaning powerlink and 10 speeds and cleaning powerlinks don't seem to be happy bedfellows.

Is there a better way to achieve a 10-sp chain that's easy to get on and off? It's cheap but will it work?

The Crud RoadRacer Mk2 Mudguard Set is a lightweight mudguard set designed to fit road bikes with tight clearances and without mudguard mounts.

Will the Crud Road Racer Mk2 fit a Trek Madone 2.1 with 700x25 tyres

Not a Trek but I had a lot of trouble with my Cruds on a 700c x 25s. I thought it was me fitting them wrongly.

To be honest I hated the tyres any way as they were Specialzed "own-brand" so I could not wait to get rid of them.

700c x 23 are no problem on the same bike, so I would be wary on 25s.

Giant Defy 1 (2012) - Will these fit?

Hello,

Will this RoadRacer Mk2 Mudguard Set fit this years Giant Defy 1 (2012)?

(This is the aluminium frame bike that won bike of the year in the £1,000 range).

I am using 25mm tyres.

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Bobby
Best answer
I do not know about the Giant but I struggled with 25mm tyres on a Specialized Secteur. As soon as I fitted 23mm tyres the CrudGuards fitted easily & worked perfectly (and the bike also handled much better).

I have purchased another set for this year as they save a lot of front/rear mech mess and cold & wet bottom/back.

Thanks

Skewers and freehub are included and the freehub is very smooth and quiet. You will need to buy rim tape.

I needed a Shimano Cassette Lockring Remover for 501 based kit and an adjustable spanner to tighten it. Torque wrench recommended.
