 Castelli Aero Race 5.1 Jersey
Castelli Aero Race 5.1 Jersey
The most aero jersey Castelli have ever made evolves still further saving an extra 2 watts compared to the previous edition. Not only is this jersey aero it's also lightweight and very comfortable making it perfect for both racing and training.

" i've been wearing this a lot for long/hot rides, compared to a typical jersey it's considerably more comfortable once the temperature is into the 30s, i've hardly worn the other jerseys at all as this one is so much cooler to wear
pocket size is normal, unlike the tiny pockets on the climber's jersey!
i'd say it's more delicate than normal, needs a bit of care putting it on and especially when taking off as the arm grip area really hangs on once it's wet
compared to other castelli jerseys, it's snug, but that's to be expected for aero, it's cut to fit in position on the bike, standing it feels 'wrong' around the arms/chest
i take the same size as for a non-aero castelli, fit was ok for me
if you normally take size 'x' in a non-aero castelli, if that's already snug, then go up a size for the aero "

Speedplay's new user-friendly Zero walkable cleat offers exceptional off-the-bike rider functionality and performance. The system clips in as normal, but features rubberised covers around the cleat that stay on while you are riding.

better than the standard cleats, but not as robust

" compared to the standard cleats, stack height is slightly lower, i'm not convinced there's any useful aero advantage (at least not to me)
the walkability is the real attraction for me
the supplied screws are not the same as standard cleats, only one length is supplied and these are only just long enough for the adaptors, if you use the cleats with speedplay specific shoes the screws may not be long enough
if you use wedges or shims you'll need to buy longer screws, which is problematic as the heads on these are a bit bigger, but speedplay give no other option that i've seen for longer screws with the smaller head
the covers have survived a few months use, including on rough surfaces, what they don't like is twisting force, then they can detach, also, twisting seems to stretch them and they will not return to previous shape
the cleat buddies fall out very easily, i gave up on them
compared to standard cleats, the cover means there's slightly less feedback when clipping in, but not really a problem
pro
- walkable, no need to carry covers
- lower stack height
con
- supplied screws give no flexibility for shims/wedges, had to buy extra ones
- the covers are easily stretched/distorted
- cleat buddies are pretty much useless

best road shoes i've had so far

" i've used many road shoes over the years, most recently the last two versions of specialized s-works which i'd thought would not be topped
obviously fit/comfort is personal, and i use insoles with high arch support which do not match some shoes (i've tried lake cx402, they were really not a good match)
after moulding, the bonts are the best so far, switching back to the s-works i really notice the difference in comfort/fit
i found the oven moulding method was not effective (oven temperature checked with two different probes, even raising the temperature didn't help) perhaps because the shoes cool very fast. i switched to using a temperature controlled heatgun, this made it easy to perfect the shape
they feel light on the feet, ventilation is very good, staying comfortable even at high temperatures with noticeable airflow through the front (on cooler days toe or shoe covers are needed)
stack height is lower than the s-works, and they feel even stiffer
toe/heel protection is good, no sign of wear after a few months (though i wonder about availability of spare heels when the time comes)
i like the quick-release boas, no slipping, on the fly adjustment is easy to do
btw i also tried some 2015 vaypor + in the same size, but i found the toe box felt too low, the vaypor s had a bit more height "
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive, Limited Color Choices

1 - 3 repairs, depending on tyre diametre. A highly effective product for repair of flats of all TUFO tyres. Use only once a puncture has occurred, will deal with slightly bigger holes than the standard sealant.

" the tufo sealant works far better than others i've tried
it seems to contain fibres that bunch up at the hole and form a durable plug
takes about a quarter of a bottle to seal a puncture
once a bottle is opened, it can dry out, so it's worth giving used bottle a good shake to check it's still usable, also the nozzle can get clogged, you can use the tie wrap that holds the valve core tool as a prod to clear it "
Pros: effective

" the packaging is stupidly wasteful, over 5kg of it! when i collected the box from wiggle my first though was that the wrong stuff had been sent
aside from that, very easy installation, though the instructions are only available online in pdf form, a curious omission considering the massive packaging and the multiple copies of other documents that were included
the shifters are a smaller than mechanical red, and after years of double tap the new shifting technique is going to take a while to become reflex, but operation has been flawless so far
after a few rides i noticed that the lower limit screw on the fd was catching the inside of the crank arm, i think it only happens during shifting to the big ring - the fd 'over shifts' then moves back in a bit - so i removed the screw and ground a couple of mm off the end to solve this
it's not mentioned in the description, but the box also contains brake cables and outers "
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, no cables, easy installation
Cons: wasteful packaging

only slight quibble would be that the instructions could be printed a bit larger and clearer - it is supposed to be installed the correct way around, a single large diagram would've been better than the teeny words in multiple languages "

" they work well, but the sizing is way smaller than normal castelli, and the size guide is wrong (results in too small)
i'm tall slim and c. 78kg at the moment, normally i'm L for castelli leg/knee warmers (i.e. what the size guide says), but trying to put on these in L was hopeless, at the thigh i was worried they'd rip if i pulled them up any higher, at the ankle i couldn't do up the zip
changed and got some XL, which just about fit, but i'd still prefer them a bit bigger, they're supposed to be zipped up on top of overshoes, there's barely enough slack to do it "
Pros: Attractive, High Quality
Cons: too small vs. size chart

Giavanni Aero Carbon Road Bike Forks
Giavanni Aero Carbon Road Bike Forks
Bladed carbon forks with an Carbon steerer.

Carbon steerer? or Steel steerer?

In the picture of this fork, the steerer looks like a steel, whereas the text says the steerer is made of carbon.
Could you tell me this fork's steerer made of carbon, or steel?
Thanks.

 Contour HD camera
Contour HD camera
The world's first HD helmet cam. The ContourHD takes shoot-and-share technology to a new level; nothing else comes close.

Does the Countour HD camera have a suitable helmet mount?

The Helmet mount for the contour HD is unclear, also what is the differnce between Micro SD cards and the HD Cards? How do you change the recording settings on the camera?

you can see the different mounts here...

http://vholdr.com/contourhd/accessories

the camera comes with the "flat surface mount" and "goggle mount", for a road helmet you'd probably want to buy the extra "vented helmet mount"

sd cards are limited to 2gb maximum capacity, the 'hd' card is actually sdhc, sdhc cards support much higher capacity (the camera spec. says it accepts cards up to 16gb)

yes, it comes with the "city navigator europe nt" map on the sd card

go here...

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=6299#coverageTab

...at the top of the map, click the "click here for interactive map" and you'll get a window open up

pan down to where lanzarote is, then click on the area, the more you click, the more you'll zoom in, so you can see exactly the level of detail provided, also click the "more" detail button

basically it shows streets and some places of interest (which may not be up to date), so for finding your way about it could be ok, but it has no contours or other details you might want for planning off road use, personally i'd want to supplement it with a paper map
